Felipe Muñoz Kapamas (born February 3, 1951 in Mexico City, Mexico)[1] is an Olympic champion breaststroke swimmer from Mexico, and as of 2008, is the President of the Mexican Olympic Committee.[2] Muñoz swam for Mexico at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics.
At the 1968 Olympics, he won the Men's 200m Breaststroke.
Muñoz is of Greek descent on his mother's side.[3]
His nickname is "el tibio", which means "warm" in spanish. It was coined because Felipe's father is from Aguascalientes, meaning "hot waters", and his mother is from the city of Rio Frio (Estado de Mexico), meaning "cold river". He also had the odd habit of refusing to swim in an unheated pool.
